April/May News:
Social Studies: The class has completed an investigation of the neighbourhood and community. We have begun to look at Canadian symbols and the students will also be introduced to basic mapping skills.
Science: The children have learned about the water cycle and the make up and importance of soil. Our up coming science unit will be on insects. We will be looking at needs of a living thing and insect growth and change.
Math: We are just finishing up a Shape and Space unit. Students have been sorting and comparing 2-D shapes and 3-D objects.
The next unit is adding and subtracting to 20. Students will be taught some strategies to assist.
P.E.: April is Dance month so the students have be learning some basic dance steps and moves. We have also started kilometre club. Students will be running, walking, skipping around the field on Mon., Wed. and Fri.. We will be out rain or shine so students need to dress appropriately. I will keep track of the distances and students will earn ribbons at different milestones.
Writing: For the last term the focus will be on story writing as well as adding more description to written work.

April 25: Multicultural Day (see school notice). I need a parent helper to assist with the lunch. If you are able please let me know. Thank you!
May 1: We are walking to the city library to see a short performance of Hansel and Gretal. Cost...FREE. I will send a notice home with more details.
May 8: City Library walk. Students will have a story and exchange their books.
May 18: Fund Day. Students are dismissed at 12:45.
May 29: City Library walk. Students will have a story and exchange their books.
June 19: City Library walk. Students will have a story and exchange their books.
